Meet the Designer - Jesuknits
Meet Jesu, one of our amazing designers, who is more commonly known as Jesuknits! Jesu is a knitwear designer from Chilie where she lives in a ‘wool house’ with her husband Juan, beautiful son, Jose and two adorable dogs, Blanca and Alba. Jesu and Juan describe their lovely home as a ‘wool house’ simply because everywhere you look there is a skein, a ball and/or a project in progress. But they wouldn’t have it any other way!
Jesu and Juan are a true husband and wife partnership. Both avid knitters, they co-own and run their successful hand dyed yarn company, Corralito Yarns. They specialise in working with ‘noble fibres’ where they take care of spinning and dying fibres in a variety of vibrant, daring and elegant colour combinations. Each project made using their yarns are special and unique. We absolutely love their aesthetic and think their colour combinations are dreamy!! As a small family business, they take great care in ensuring sustainable business practices, protecting the environment and natural resources around them, minimising their carbon footprint. They have forged working relationships with spinning mills who promote responsible wool standards and care for the animals and environment. This is so important and inspiring to hear, we love your dedication!
Jesu is a successful knitwear designer and loves using yarns from the family business to create her knitted pieces. We can’t get enough of her bight and cheery style. Jesu loves designing knitwear and states that she is always learning new things with every design. She admits openly that the design process often brings with it some struggles, but with some perseverance, the end result is always worth the effort! Your designs are beautiful Jesu, we couldn’t agree more!
Jesu designs a variety of patterns, from shawls to jumpers to hats and tees. She has also had a beautiful sweater design published in Issue 47 of Pom Pom Quarterly, what an incredible achievement, well done Jesu! Jesu and Juan also host a wonderful knitting podcast in their native language, Spanish, where that chat about anything and everything knitting related, from inspirational knitting patterns, projects on their needles or providing interviews and tutorials for their YouTube community. Plus, a little bit of family life, thrown in for good measure!
